Functional Medicine Consultation for Lakewood health planning

Functional medicine consultation gives patients a structured way to discuss patterns that may be hard to explain during a short symptom review. The work may include health history, current medicines, past injuries, daily concerns, and personal health goals.

This page serves people who want to prepare well before discussing care options. It is not a replacement for urgent medical attention, and it does not promise a specific outcome. The useful decision is whether a broader review can help organize your concerns for the next clinical step.

For patients in Lakewood, the consultation is part of our wider medical and chiropractic care approach. Our team may connect the discussion with a thorough injury evaluation when accident-related symptoms are involved.

  • Write down when each symptom began and what changes it.
  • Bring current medicine names, supplements, and relevant visit information.
  • Note the health goals you want to discuss.
  • Ask which findings need medical follow-up or additional evaluation.

Why patients choose this consultation

Health history guides the discussion

A detailed health history gives the consultation more context than a single symptom alone. We use it to frame questions about symptoms, prior care, and daily function.

Personal goals shape the plan

Your goals help us explain which care options may fit your needs. Clear treatment option explanations support informed decisions without promising a set result.

Care can include injury review

Patients with accident-related neck pain, back pain, or whiplash can discuss those concerns alongside medical evaluation and chiropractic care.

When another service fits better

This consultation may not be the right first step for an urgent or severe medical concern. Urgent symptoms need prompt medical attention through the appropriate emergency or medical channel.

This place is amazing. The staff is friendly. The office is clean and laid back. Not much of a wait. The doctor walks you through every step and tells you what he’s going to do and has answers any questions I’ve had to the best of his knowledge. Normally I am afraid to go to doctors and be in offices but this place has been a different experience. I would recommend anyone to come here. The front desk ladies are helpful and friendly

Dr. Dar’Neshia Roberts and her staff provide top-tier customer service and are super personable, knowledgeable, and always willing to further educate their patients if needed. The team works quickly and efficiently without making you feel rushed, and the clinic is very clean and always smells fresh. While I’m not happy that I got hurt, I’m extremely blessed to have found AIC. This clinic is warm, welcoming, and inclusive, and I truly felt comfortable and respected as a person of color. I highly recommend their services!!!

Questions about preparing for functional medicine consultation

Before scheduling the visit, how should I prepare for a functional medicine consultation to keep the work on track?

Medical records, a symptom journal, a medication list, and health goals are the most useful preparation. Bring relevant visit notes and write down when symptoms began, what changes them, and how they affect daily life. This information helps our team ask focused questions and explain care options. You can also bring questions about diagnostic needs or treatment choices.

What should my symptom journal include?

A symptom journal should record the symptom, when it appears, what affects it, and how it limits daily activity. Notes about sleep, movement, headaches, neck pain, or back pain can add useful context. Keep the wording simple and factual. Our team uses the pattern you describe to guide discussion, not to promise a diagnosis from the journal alone.

Which medicine information should I bring?

A medication list should include current medicines, supplements, and information about how you use them. Include names you know and note questions about changes or side effects. Our team reviews this information as part of the health discussion. Medication questions may need follow-up with the appropriate medical clinician, so do not change a medicine based only on the consultation.

Why should I write down my health goals before the visit?

Health goals help the consultation focus on what matters in daily life. You might want to discuss movement, sleep, work limits, or symptoms after an injury. Written goals also make it easier to compare care options with your needs. Our team explains how the evaluation relates to those goals, while individual response to care can differ.

When is this consultation the wrong first step?

Urgent or severe symptoms need prompt medical attention through the appropriate emergency or medical channel. A consultation is suited to a planned discussion of health history, symptoms, medicines, and goals. It does not replace emergency care. Patients with accident-related concerns can discuss medical evaluation and chiropractic care with our team after urgent needs receive proper attention.
